Jo-Wilfried Tsonga- Colossus of the Tennis World

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga was born on April 17, 1985. He is a professional tennis player from France. His birthplace was Le Mans and belongs to a mixed ancestry. Tsonga’s mother is a French woman while his father is Congolese. His mother’s name is Evelyne and father’s is Didier. In 1970s, Didier came to France to play the sport of handball where he met Evelyne. They fell in love and soon got married. Tsonga is their second kid. He has a younger brother and an elder sister. His younger brother’s name is Enzo. He is also attracted towards sports and is the member of the junior French Basketball team. Tsonga’s elder sister’s name is Sasha. She is very much away from sports. Charles N Zonbia is his cousin. Zonbia is the part of the Wigan Athletic football club. In his childhood, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga used to mimic great tennis players. Tongsa is 6 feet 2inches tall with dark complexion. He has great facial resemblance with the world’s finest boxer Mohammad Ali. For this reason he is regarded as the Mohammad Ali of tennis. Jo-Wilfried Tsonga began his early tennis career in 2003, with great success. He won US Open title for junior category by defeating his childhood rival Marco Bagdatis in the final match. In the same year, he reached the semi finals of other Grand Slams. In 2004, Jo became the pro tennis player but, in that particular year he began to suffer from string injuries. 2005 and 2006 also went bad for him. He suffered from several shoulder and abdominal injuries in those years. From 2004 to 2006, Tsonga played only 8 tournaments. He failed to perform well in these tournaments due to several health problems.

At the beginning of 2007, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga was ranked 212. He achieved 4 Challenger titles in Surbiton, Mexico, Tallahassee and Lanzarote. In 2007, Wimbledon he reached up to the fourth level by defeating Nicolas Lapentti, Feliciano Lopez and Julien Benneteau. In 2007 US open, Rafael Nadal defeated Tsonga. Jo and Grosjean achieved their first doubles title in 2007 GrandPixDeTennisDeLyon tournament, by defeating Lovro Zovko and Lukasz Kubot in the final match. In July of 2007, his rank was 74 and he ended the year with a rank of 43. In one word, year 2007 went very well for Tsonga. In 2008, he defeated world champion Novak Djokovic and in 2009, he ended the season by staying among the top ten players. Year 2010 did not go well for Jo. He started suffering from knee injury and was out of the final match of French Davis Cup. He could not stay among the top ten players. His consistency got ruined due to injuries.
